Our Fortress Rum celebrates the passionate and courageous souls who sailed to the New World hundreds of years ago. Whether journeys were for country, queen or curiosity, explorers staked their claim in what would become Nova Scotia, and protected it with stone walls, ramparts, cannons and war. Rum was a part of their daily ration, energizing and influencing a strong morale. And while the cannons along our shorelines are now silent, passion still roars here with our Fortress Rum.

We create our award-winning Fortress Rum by patiently maturing select Caribbean rum in oak barrels at the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, proudly restoring the three centuries old history of the New France rum trade. The result is a small batch premium overproof amber rum that’s smooth and well-structured. A unique spirit to be enjoyed neat, over ice or mixed in a cocktail that demands character, Fortress Rum is truly Worth Protecting.
